Anime Kaika is a dream come true for anime fans. The store has an impressive collection of anime merchandise, ranging from figures and manga to apparel and accessories.

What makes this place so special is their exclusive collaborations with local artists, offering unique items that you won’t find anywhere else.

The staff here are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help you find that rare collectible or recommend new manga. Plus, the store itself is well-organized, making it easy to navigate and enjoy the shopping experience.

That said, some items, especially limited editions, can be on the pricier side, and high-demand products often sell out quickly, so timing is everything.

But if you’re an anime fan in Sydney, Anime Kaika is definitely worth a visit. We walked away with a smile, lighter wallets, and some rare Genshin merch we’d been hunting for ages.

Pros

  • Wide product range
  • Friendly staff
  • Exclusive items
  • Regular sales/events

Cons

  • Premium prices
  • Limited stock on demand

Definitely going back

“I visited this store under a recommendation. My wallet may not be happy however I am. It is so hard to find Genshin merch in Sydney and it was surprising to see how much they had in stock. Definitely going back in the near future. A staff member also helped me reach an item which I was too short to get myself, very much appreciated ✨”

Loved the HoloLive section

“Went there with some close friends as part of my first time in the city with close friends. I loved the HoloLive section they had on offer. Ended up coming back and buying a cinnamoroll plush as a birthday present for a close friend from here! She ended up buying me a pompompurin plush back 😊.”

Anime at Abbotsford City Store is a haven for those who love indie creativity blended with mainstream anime culture.

Tucked away in Haymarket, this shop has a curated selection of anime-related products. They also showcase art prints, zines, and handmade goods from local and international creators.

This unique mix makes it stand out, offering a refreshing alternative to standard anime merchandise. We spent hours exploring the selection and walked out with a one-of-a-kind art print that now hangs proudly on our wall.

The staff’s passion for anime shines through in their personalized service, as they’re more than happy to chat about their favorite series or help you find something special.

The downside? The shop’s small size means limited browsing space and indie items often come with a slightly higher price tag.

Still, regular events like anime movie screenings and meetups add a fun community vibe.

Pros

  • Unique indie products
  • Personalized customer service
  • Regular events and screenings
  • Supports local creators

Cons

  • Higher-priced premium items
  • Limited space for browsing
  • Limited stock for popular items

Superb quality

“I’ve only been going to this place for about 3 months now, and I’m already friends with 90 percent of the staff. There’s so many different animes characters to choose from, and all statues are of great quality. If you’re not into statues, there are also plushies, figures, and cards. And when I came here with my freind William, we decided to get 3 of them each, he ended up winning the top prize (AKA a 100 dollar egghead island Luffy statue) and I got both a Chopper plushie, and a Giant Zoro and a giant Rob Lucci statue. I have nothing bad to say about this place. 10/10.”

Prices were clear and reasonable

“Stopped in during our last visit to Sydney – we were lucky it was so close to where we were staying. For the amount of stock they have, they’ve done a great job displaying it all and laying out the space so you can see everything. Prices were clear and reasonable, staff were super lovely, and on the hot day we visited the air con was amazing. Nothing like being able to take your time to shop without feeling uncomfortable. We bought a few things and now I’m off to check out their website and socials. Looking forward to an in person visit next time we’re in Sydney :).”

Otaku Cave AU in Ashfield feels like stepping into an anime collector’s paradise. The store specializes in rare and exclusive items, making it a must-visit for fans hunting for something truly unique.

What makes Otaku Cave AU really shine is the staff—they’re not just employees but true fans who can geek out with you about your favorite shows and recommend hidden gems. In another life, maybe we would’ve been employees here!

Anyway, we had a blast chatting with them and left with a figure that became the highlight of our collection.

Beyond the friendly, knowledgeable staff, the store frequently hosts events like Halloween and Easter Sunday that foster a welcoming and inclusive community.

On the flip side, some of the rare items can be quite expensive, and the overall product range isn’t as broad as other stores. Still, the quality and uniqueness of their offerings make up for it.

Situated in the bustling heart of Sydney, this bookstore boasts an incredible selection of manga, graphic novels, and anime merchandise.

What we love most is their dedication to both English and Japanese titles, ensuring fans can find their favorites no matter their language preference.

The store’s commitment to art and culture is evident in their frequent collaborations with publishers and artists, leading to exclusive releases you won’t find elsewhere.

There is only a tiny downside: prices can be steep, especially for rare or imported items, and their limited stock of rare titles means you need to act fast.

Still, the friendly staff and organized layout make every visit a pleasure. We couldn’t resist picking up a rare art book and some classic manga volumes, making it a worthwhile stop for any anime enthusiast.

Pros

  • Wide manga selection
  • Regular anime events
  • Exclusive merchandise available
  • Friendly, knowledgeable staff

Cons

  • Higher-priced exclusives
  • Rare items limited

Has everything at one spot

“this bookstore is perfect for all you weebs out there. Aside from that, they do stock actual novels and fiction books, art books, guidebooks, help books, language books, god, any book you can prob think of. There’s also a great selection of chinese and japanese books, which is awesome, and i can appreciate the authenticity when its due. Theyve got so many different types of stuff on sale it’s hard to list them all, but think stationary, accessories, figures, heck, even vinyls, which were a surprise for me! The prices here seem typically more expensive than other retailers, but the convenience of having everything at one spot is definitely there. Lots of helpful and friendly staff around, and one of the bigger bookstores sydney has to offer

– Stefan., Google Review

Has everything you can hope for

“Not only the popular mangas are there, the slightly less well known ones are also included, sorted in alphabetical order. Just really hoped it had a yuri section, it does have a danmei (Chinese bl) section though.

If I could live beside it I will, got me wanting to live in Sydney😔”

What sets Hobby Kitz apart is its focus on the hobbyist community, offering tools, paints, and accessories to help bring your models to life.

They frequently host workshops and events, creating a lively space for fans to connect and learn.

However, the store’s emphasis on Gundam means the variety of non-Gundam merchandise is somewhat limited, and exclusives can be pricey.

Despite this, the passionate and knowledgeable staff make every visit enjoyable. We spent hours exploring the shelves and even picked up some tips during a workshop.

If you’re into model building, this place is an absolute gem.

Pros

  • Extensive Gundam collection
  • Rare, exclusive merchandise
  • Hobby tools available
  • Passionate, helpful staff
  • Engaging community events

Cons

  • Limited non-Gundam variety

Excellent customer service

“Ordered online Friday, got it delivered in person as they were about to ship my order and it was just easier to deliver it in hands! Beat that level of customer service, competition!

Also got a few One Piece cards. Not sure they were chosen especially for me, but two are Marco, the Phoenix!!! If the pun was intended, it is seen and appreciated! Thanks, folks! Can’t wait for visiting the store in person one day!”

– Marcos U., Google Review

Lovely staff, lovely place!

“Really lovely people! Owner was so nice when we went in a few weeks ago on a whim to check for pokemon tcg stuff. Had a great chat and gave us a free card. Fingers crossed distributer issues for the Australian market are resolved soon as I’d rather support these guys than a big box retailer. Hope you guys get lots of stock soon 🙏”
