Tired of working from home? Check out these 5 amazing coworking spaces in Sydney to supercharge your productivity.

Location: I prioritized coworking spaces that are centrally located in Sydney. This makes commuting easier and allows access to nearby amenities and networking opportunities.

Amenities: I looked for spaces that offer essential amenities like high-speed internet, meeting rooms, and kitchen facilities. These features were crucial for my work efficiency and comfort, allowing me to focus on tasks without interruptions.

Community and Networking Opportunities: I chose spaces that foster a strong community atmosphere. This environment helped me meet like-minded individuals and encouraged collaboration and potential partnerships.

Flexibility in Membership Plans: I searched for coworking spaces with flexible membership options, such as hot desks or dedicated offices. This flexibility allowed me to adapt my workspace needs based on my workload.

At the start of the pandemic, I found myself trading my bustling office for the quiet of my home. While it was nice to roll out of bed and into my “office,” I quickly realized that without the energy of coworkers around me, I was more likely to binge-watch shows than tackle my to-do list.

If you’re anything like me, you know that a little social interaction can work wonders for productivity. That’s why I set out to discover Sydney’s best coworking spaces, which could help reignite that spark.

I’ll share the top spots I found that offer a great work environment and foster community and creativity. Ready to break free from your home office? Let’s dive in!

How much do coworking spaces charge in Sydney?

Coworking spaces in Sydney generally charge between AUD $140 and $172 per hour for renting a desk or office space, depending on the location and amenities provided.

Monthly rates can vary significantly, averaging between AUD $500 and $950 based on the suburb and type of workspace. For instance, a hot desk typically costs around AUD $550 per month, while private offices usually start at approximately AUD $850.

I’ve been spending some time at Fishburners, and I have to say, it’s been quite the experience! As a non-profit, Fishburners is all about helping tech-enabled startups and entrepreneurs and creating a unique hub for innovation.

One thing that stands out to us is the location. It’s perched right above Wynyard Station, which makes getting around a breeze! We love that we can just hop on public transport without any fuss, plus there’s so much happening in the CBD.

Now, let’s explore the amenities because they add to the appeal. High-speed internet? Yep, we’ve got that! Unlimited coffee and tea? Double yes! Those meeting rooms are equipped with all the tech we could need.

Let’s not forget about the wellness rooms and recreational areas. We’ve spent some fun breaks playing ping-pong, which adds a nice touch to our workday.

Another feature we appreciate is the flexibility in membership plans. Whether we need a hot desk for a day or a dedicated space for a longer project, the options make it easy to find what fits just right.

Of course, no place is without its quirks. We’ve heard some folks express concerns about noise levels during peak hours. It can get a little hectic, and it’s tough to concentrate sometimes.

It might be helpful if they create designated quiet zones or soundproof certain areas—I think that could really enhance the focused environment. A gentle nudge for everyone to keep their voices down or use headphones could work, too.

Pros

  • Strong Startup Community
  • Comprehensive Amenities
  • Affordable Pricing

Cons

  • Open Plan Layout
  • Limited Privacy
  • Non-Profit Structure

Modern, Well-Equipped

What an amazing place! Wonderful collaborative working space with modern facilities and great shared work areas. Excellent conference rooms and supporting technology and terrific on site staff.

The location is perfect – close to public transport, close to restaurants and coffee shops and a short walk to the CBD. The place has heaps of character and is a perfect ‘office away from home’.

Love working here! Henry has been a great host and more than accommodating. The wifi is super fast and I’ve been able to get more done this week then hanging out at a coffee shop. I’ve also met a few people who were ultra-nice and it’s been fun talking shop. Great space to get things done! Thank you Fishburners!

Office Hub offers a range of flexible workspace solutions that cater to almost everyone—freelancers, startups, and even some of the bigger companies that need a place to land.

What we love most is their online platform. It’s easy to compare and book different spaces across the city, which is a huge convenience. We’ve noticed they’re strategically placed right in the heart of Sydney, making our daily commutes a breeze.

Now, let’s talk about amenities. The high-speed internet? Yes, please! It’s crucial for our work efficiency. We’ve also found the meeting rooms handy whenever we brainstorm or catch up with clients.

We’ve heard some chatter about the lack of privacy in shared workspaces. Many users have expressed that the open layout can make it challenging to focus on tasks that require concentration or confidentiality.

It would be smart for them to set up designated quiet zones or soundproofed areas. That way, they could maintain that collaborative energy while giving us a peaceful spot to buckle down when needed.

Emerge Sydney is in the heart of Surry Hills, just a stone’s throw from Central Station. It offers everything from open-plan desks where we can work alongside others to private offices for those times we need a bit more focus.

One of the things we love about it is the little perks they offer. Imagine helping yourself to complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks while you work—it’s like a cozy café vibe that helps us power through the day.

The amenities here are impressive, too. The high-speed internet is super reliable, and access to meeting rooms allows us to host client meetings or brainstorming sessions without hassle.

What stands out for us is the sense of community at Emerge Sydney. They hold regular events, which has been fantastic for networking. We’ve connected with like-minded folks and even collaborated on some projects.

That said, we’ve heard a few people mention the inconsistent availability of amenities, such as meeting rooms and equipment. Many users have expressed frustration when they find that essential resources are booked out or not functioning properly.

Emerge Sydney could implement a robust booking system that allows members to reserve amenities in advance. They should also implement regular maintenance checks to ensure members can rely on the facilities when needed.

  • Flexible Workspace Options
  • Creative Atmosphere
  • Meeting Room Availability

Cons

  • Limited Operating Hours on Weekends
  • Lack of On-Site Dining Options
  • Parking Limitations

Prime Location and Vibrant Community

It’s an absolute pleasure to work at Emerge, I’ve worked at other similar co-working spaces and this is by far the best one. Both offices in Sydney are in amazing locations and bargains considering one is right next to Central Station and the other in the CBD. It’s a great atmosphere with nice perks like free meeting spaces, Friday drinks, and regular events. I would recommend Emerge to anyone looking for either a single desk or a private office.

Work Inc is a unique spot for startups and entrepreneurs. We love the variety of services they offer, like meeting rooms and even a podcast studio where you can get all the equipment you need, plus operators who know their stuff.

And let’s not forget about the award-winning café! Their catering menu keeps us energized and productive throughout the day. Its spacious offices and beautiful heritage architecture make it hard not to feel inspired.

We also appreciate the focus on community. Work Inc. encourages us to connect with like-minded folks through networking events. It’s refreshing to tap into shared knowledge and resources with others who are passionate about their work.

We also love the flexibility of the membership options. Whether we need a private office or a dedicated desk, they have plans that can grow with us. It feels great knowing we’re not locked into anything long-term as our needs evolve.

Now, we’ve encountered one little hiccup—the limited availability of meeting rooms. Some folks have expressed frustration about securing a private space, especially during peak hours when it can get pretty busy.

A cool solution could be introducing a reservation system for those meeting rooms. Imagine being able to book time slots in advance! That would help manage the demand and ensure everyone gets access when needed.

And maybe if they could set up more flexible spaces that can be quickly transformed into meeting areas, it’d ease that congestion during those crowded times.

Pros

  • Spacious Offices

  • Personalized Service

Cons

  • Limited Meeting Room Availability
  • Accessibility Issues
  • Higher Costs

Great Space for Growing Startups

Our company A Human Agency (a-ha!) has been headquartered at Work Inc in Bay 9 for almost 2 years now and we love it! The space, the atmosphere and the community are perfect for our needs. As an entrepreneur investing in office space is a big financial decision but has been a ‘no brainer’ for bringing our growth plans to light here. Highly recommended for other start-ups. Get amongst it!

Vibrant, Connected, and Conveniently Located

Great vibe, fast internet, friendly staff. Little bit noisy as you’d expect under a railway and next to the highway but not too bad. There’s a great cafe on site and Greenwood Plaza is only a short walk away for quick and easy lunch options. You can walk down to the Lavender Bay jetty to take a break and enjoy the harbour views.

Their unique amenities, like podcast studios and gaming areas, set them apart. They thought about creating an environment that sparks creativity and collaboration while giving us the tools we need to grow professionally.

I’ve seen some of their specialized studios, all kitted out with professional-grade audio and video equipment. It’s so nice to know that we can make high-quality content without breaking the bank on our setups.
